Rethink & Reduce Tips

• Order your kids a meal at a fast food restaurant without a toy. Many of these toys are played with once and never touched again. If the toy lights up or turns on, it likely has a button battery inside.
• Buy items where batteries can be replaced instead of those that are used up once the battery wears out.

Item Accepted As: Problem Material

No Fee

Items that contain batteries that cannot be removed from the device are accepted for recycling. The battery will be extracted for recycling and the rest of the device will be properly disposed of.

Items include but are not limited to:

• Books, Electronic
• Carnival and party prizes, dentist and doctor trinkets
• Drug patches containing battery (Special NOTE:  Cut the battery from the patch before recycling the battery.  Properly dispose of the drug patch.)
• Flashlights (like those on keychains)
• Mascara with vibrating wands
• Musical greeting cards
• Plush decorations or toys, muscial or tallking
• Shavers and groomers, cordless
• Shoes with lights
• Tools, Cordless
• Toothbrush, electric
• Toys (such as fast food toys, balls that light up)
• Watches or clocks

If possible, remove battery from device. Take the battery to a battery collection site.
