Store leftover latex paint where it will not freeze.
Store all paints upside-down, so it forms a seal over the lid and keeps the paint from drying out.

More Get Rid Of It Tips

You can dry out small amounts of latex paint (cans less than 1/4 full) at home. To dry out:

Empty cans and cans with completely dried latex paint (not oil-based) may be put in the garbage.

Accepted At These Hennepin County Facilities. Proof of residency required (MN drivers license or current utility bill).

No Fee

LIMIT: Three 5-gallon-sized pails of latex or oil-based paint, per household, per 12 month period. This limit does not apply to 1-gallon-sized cans.

Oil Based
Liquid and dried out oil-based paint is considered flammable and should be brought to our drop-off facilities.
