Fuses - Accepted

Fuses are accepted as Household Hazardous Waste because they are considered a flammable solid.

Fuses may be called road flares because they are commonly used when a automobile breaks down.  However, fuses are not technically flares - the label should indicate whether it is a fuse or a flare.

Marine flares or railway torpedoes - Not accepted

Marine flares or railway torpedoe are not accepted at the drop-off facilities because they are considered explosive. Some police departments accept explosive materials for disposal. Call your local police department (not 911).
