Reuse Tips

• After the holidays, place your Christmas tree in your garden as a shelter for birds and wildlife in your backyard during the winter. Then properly compost it in the spring or shred to use as mulch.

Not Accepted At Hennepin County Facilities.

Live Christmas trees must be disposed of as yard waste. They are not accepted at Hennepin County Drop-off Facilities and should not be placed in your household trash.

Disposal options

Curbside pick-up

Many trash service providers offer pick-up service for Christmas tree for one to three weeks after the holidays, usually for a fee. Contact your garbage hauler or city recycling coordinator for pick-up options.

Drop-off
