Phone books are banned from the trash.
Phone books are accepted for recycling at the drop-off facilities. Phone books are also accepted in most curbside recycling programs.
Phone books may not be placed in the trash under Minnesota Statue §115A.951. This law also requires publishers or distributors of phone books with more than 7,500 listing to provide for collection and delivery to a recycler. Phone book distributors must inform people who receive phone books about how and where to recycle.
